Environmentally friendly traveling with Bookyourtrail®

Climate change is on everyone’s lips. The various scenarios do not suggest anything good. But what can be done? An African proverb says, “if in many small places many small people do many small things, the face of our earth will change!” I guess it is up to each person to decide for themselves what contribution they are able and willing to make. We from the Trail Angels must therefore also ask ourselves again and again what we can do from our side to make environmentally friendly travel possible for our guests. In doing so, we act on a principle attributed to Immanuel Kant that sums it up perfectly for us: “I can, because I want to do, what I have to do!” We are convinced that we must, because it is not little time that we have, but a lot of time that we often do not use.
Thus, climate-friendly offers and environmentally friendly travel have increasingly become a mission to ourselves. Over the years, we have developed our own line of environmentally conscious offers, which we call Green Spirit Packages. So we from our side have consistently develop special offers for environmentally friendly travel and our guests can consciously select and use these offers from their side.
But what can now these Green Spirit offers with regard to environmentally conscious vacations accomplish concretely? Environmentally friendly travel begins even before the start of the vacation. The staff at our information and booking center will be happy to advise you on the best way to travel by train and the appropriate ticket. In recent years, this service has led to 35% of our guests in the local market (Central Europe) traveling by train. This development speaks for the logistical competence and the green spirit of our booking team. Consequently, a shuttle is already waiting at the train station to take our guests to their respective starting point. And logically, a shuttle will also bring you back to the station of your departure at the end of the hiking trip.
The logic of our economic travel planning naturally includes luggage transport, as luggage within a region is always carried together (i.e. in group transports) along the line. The goal of an environmentally friendly travel offer must be that our guests do not need a car during their hiking trip and if they do, that they use a shuttle service that is planned as efficiently as possible.
But environmentally friendly travel for us also means offering regional and thus climate-friendly culinary delights along our trails. These locally harvested and prepared foods are offered on the principle of “zero kilometers” and are then called “zero kilometer dishes”. “This is how the landscape I hike through tastes” can thus be experienced by our guests in a fascinating way and fully corresponds to our motto “Close to life”. The ecological footprint of our guests and our activities is minimized, natural resources are conserved and the partnership with the farmers along the trails is strengthened. For us, an environmentally friendly trip simply involves the efficient use of mobility service providers. We strive to organize the mobility requirements of our guests in our shuttle services so that we use group cabs and thus aim to avoid transfers by individuals. This is not always possible, but when an opportunity presents itself, we take advantage of it in our planning with clients.
