Gesäuse Hüttenrunde – classic hut hiking
Let’s be honest: What is the best time of day in the mountains? The minutes and hours with the most beautiful moods? I bet most people won’t answer with lunchtime, but with morning and evening moods. So the times of sunrises and sunsets, when the sun bathes nature in golden or blue light. Times of peace and amazement when the mountain world comes to life or lies down to rest. Times when you yourself can come to rest in a wonderful way.
Unfortunately, you are mostly just in these times in the valley in a hotel Also nice but you miss so much in beauty. So why not just turn the whole thing around and spend a week in the mountains on a hut hike in the Alps? Hike from hut to hut to enjoy the peace and beauty of the sunsets and sunrises to the full?

This is exactly what you can do on the Gesäuse Hüttenrunde. In 7 days you hike through the Gesäuse National Park and always spend the night in huts. At huts that are so spectacular and have such panoramic views that you can let your gaze wander in peace into the distance or even nearby. Both will captivate you because the Gesäuse National Park is spectacular, rugged and wild. So wild that it’s hard to imagine that you can spend a week travelling from hut to hut on moderate paths in the Gesäuse National Park. But you can! An ingenious route guidance makes it possible for you to be on the move only on red – meaning moderate – hiking trails and thus enjoy this hut hike in the Alps without negative adrenaline rushes. In order to achieve this, we have adapted the original route a little and set up a shuttle service for a short section. This route takes you through all subgroups of the Gesaeuse, i.e. the Reichensteingruppe, Hochtorgruppe, Buchsteingruppe and the Haller Mauern, with the starting and end points in Admont including the world-famous monastery.

Classic Reloaded
Multi-day hikes from hut to hut are a very classic form of hiking in the Alps. The simplicity of the huts has always been part of the overall experience. Just leave the stress in the valley and enjoy the here and now in connection with nature. It doesn’t take much more than a cool drink, good food, a lot of nature and a cosy restaurant. The huts on the Gesäuse Hüttenrunde are made for this. They are accommodations with a mountain hut flair, but have all been brought up to modern standards in recent years. And you won’t be able to get out of your amazement when you experience all the local delicacies that the hut hosts in the Gesäuse can prepare for you – you truly eat like a king. And this in truly royal places.

The online Travel planner of Bookyourtrail.com makes it possible. The only thing we can’t provide on this trail is a luggage service. The huts can’t be reached by car – but the distance from civilization is part of the irresistible flair of the Gesäuse Hüttenrunde. And the charm of simplicity or the limitation to the essentials can also be a wonderful thing when packing a backpack.
